Monster Madness!

Last night, Brian and I did one of our favorite things and were Aunt and Uncle for the evening. We took Ezra to the Evergreen State Fair to watch Monster Madness with our friends Karissa and Jimmie. Ezra was very excited to spend the evening with Aunt Jenny and Uncle Brian (Who am I kidding? He was excited to hang out with Uncle Brian...I was just icing on the cake). The event was very fun and we were able to watch a few cars get destroyed, some awesome motocross tricks (back flip off a jump!) and some quad races. Sadly, Snohomish County lost the quad race to King County. :(

At the end of the event, they had an amazing fireworks show. Ezra recently had ear tubes put in his ears, so he is sensitive to loud noises and fireworks definitely are too much. About halfway through the show his ear plugs weren't cutting it anymore and he buried his face in my chest. I covered his head with his hood and covered his ears with my hands to try and help as much as possible. When the show ended, I picked him up and couldn't believe it - he was fast asleep.

As we were heading out of the grand stands, Ezra woke up and wanted to get down and walk. Apparently his power nap worked and he had a second wind. He found his way very quickly to an ice cream stand and being the Aunt and Uncle that we are, we let him pick out anything he wanted (side note: Ezra has an allergy of sorts to food coloring and sugar - when he eats too much of it he gets hyper active; Marc and Anna have told us this for a while now, but I was a skeptic; I am now a true believer)...and what did he choose? The biggest, most colorful one there.

Almost instantly after he consumed the popsicle, he turned on maximum speed and began wanting to race everywhere, to play every game and to go on every ride. We gave in for a while and then tricked him out the front gate.

Here are some photos from the evening:
